So, it’s been a while. Sorry about that. Life, work, those deadlines that make that whooshing sound as they fly by have all conspired against my best intentions.
Theo is doing really well. For those of you outside the UK, we’ve had a long, long winter. The snow finally left about a month ago, and while I’ve seen the sun (and even got burned last week) we’re still back to good old English summertime and got soaked in the rain earlier today.
“The English winter — ending in July, To recommence in August.” – Lord Byron
Things we’ve done and learned with Theo since the last update..
- He likes cats. (Well, he likes next door’s ginger tom). It wriggled underneath him yesterday, went onto its back and then bopped him on the nose when he went in for a big sniff.
- He loves squeezy cheese. Best training aid ever.
- We recommend a walk in the Queen Elizabeth’s Country Park (just North of Portsmouth).
- He’s very helpful when we’re digging holes in the garden. Stopping the digging, and particularly not lying in the new cool muddy hole is still a work in progress.
- Kim thinks he said “Alan” in one of his weird howling / yipping sleep-barking sessions in the middle of the night. We’re not sure who Alan is..
- He doesn’t like humous. Or cucumbers.
- He’s becoming increasingly picky about going out in the rain.
- He gets stressed when he’s on the lead and lots of off-lead dogs surround him.
- Now that it’s summer and the sun is rising earlier, Theo thinks we should walk him earlier. 6am on a Sunday is a little too early.
- He doesn’t like wasps. When a wasp flies into the house there’s a brief but high energy interruption into our day. There’s a coordinated effort to “shoo” the wasp out of a window, and at the same time, a concerted effort to distract Theo with something else to do.
Well, that’s all for now. The photo above is me and the boy sitting in a cool and shady clearing in the woods above the visitor centre in the Queen Elizabeth Country Park. More on that another time. We hope you and yours are fine and dandy, and hope to send out more updates soon.
